"Men ... Guys" (or men & women) of Chatham-Kent and area
Do You Want good clean Fun?

IMO these are some places/activities that are nice to visit/do. And most, if not all, are better to do with at least two or three others.
Let's do things as a group, like the Red Hatters do things together -- except not limited to women and not going to "teas", etc.

Perhaps guys should start a "Green Caps" group?

Also see some "Coming Events" of Chatham-Kent (Ontario) and area

No doubt others could suggest other and maybe better places & activities.

Chatham Aeronauts annual Air Show at the Chatham Airport, this year even featuring "The Flying Lawn Mower".

WAMBO -- Wallaceburg Antique Motor & Boat Outing including WAMBO - Vintage Aircraft Fly-In

Lighthouse Cove is scenic and historic and about mid-May it is possible to see families of geese out for a walk, goose, gander, and about 6 goslings per family.
It could make a nice evening outing for Green-Cappers.

Chatham Woodworking Show

Rondeau Park has six hiking trails to explore in addition to Carolinian forests, wild flowers, birds, etc.
They even have guided tours! They would be great for small groups to enjoy and talk about afterwards. An example of a "guided tour" would be the one of Tuesday, 30 August 2005, led by Scott, a delightful and knowledgeable guide. "Carolinian Exploration: From towering Tulip trees covered in vines to shy Five-lined Skinks, explore the wonders of the rare Carolinian Forest. The unique animals, birds, and trees of this Rondeau habitat can only be seen in a few places in Ontario and no where else in Canada! ... be amazed at what you discover". A variety of guided hikes each summer!
Henry Ford Museum & Imax Theatre – probably best for a cool and/or wet day as the Museum & Theatre are indoors. { 2 & 3 } Imax definitely should be some time when they are showing a 3D film!

Point Pelee – various attractions most any time of the year.

Sinclair’s Bush – IMO, usually the wild flowers seem to be at their best about the first half of May but various varieties might be seen from late April until near the end of May.

Niagara Falls & area – good most any time; the Falls are, I think, best when the sun is shining (rainbow effect, etc.); Fort Erie is good any nice day; Clifton Hill has attractions most any time of the year. The Butterfly Conservatory is interesting. The Whirlpool (Spanish) Aero-car ride provides a nice view. Sometimes the Falls have fireworks displays. I think the Victoria Day weekend might avoid some of the huge crowds of the summer.

Pelee Island – especially quite attractive, I think, with fields of ripening wheat {probably in early July).

Mitchell’s Bay - wading & swimming, usually nice in July and August, sometimes perhaps even into September Some were finding the water warm enough even in early June (2005) -- June 9th and it was comfortably warm; near the shore it was very warm. Might still cool off by evening, but if you don't work in the afternoon, it would be a great time for a group!!

Some of the "Water Parks" have both relaxing rides (like "Lazy River") and others like steep slides. Again, should be fun doing with others, especially on the hot summer days.

One evening in late June (28 June 2006) usually there is spectacular fireworks on the Windsor/Detroit waterfront. Magnificent triple display. Sound effects are loud. Best heard and seen from near the foot of Ouellette Avenue - though parking can be scarce unless arrive early.

Seems Erieau puts on a very nice fireworks display on July 1st (if not "too windy") … can be very nicely watched from the beach! Last year there was a nearly-full moon in view behind the fireworks when watched from the beach, west of the fireworks. In 2005 the fireworks started about 9:45 and lasted for about 8 minutes. For a small community it is quite a good display and viewed from the beach is an added feature.

The Canadian Forces Snowbirds, flying the Canadair CT-114 Tutor aircraft, fly in various formations. Their air shows are worth seeing. They were performing over Leamington on June 4th (2005), seemingly the only Southwestern Ontario show that year. Wish we could have gone as a group, like the Red Hatters do things together -- except not limited to women and not going to "teas", etc.

Another nice activity would be relaxing, looking up at the stars on a mild October evening (like 4 Oct 2005), exchanging thoughts, and watching for shooting stars or moving aircraft, etc.
